When it comes to both writing and reading, some people prefer straight forward prose, while others favour poems or plays with a more poetic edge. In terms of reading, and if anyone on here writes often, which of the two do you prefer? My own preference as a reader would be for prose, I think it more neatly sums up how people actually communicate and live. What are your views?

It depends what it is you want to communicate, i am an amateur writer but i personally think that without one, you cannot have the other.
Poetry better sums up emotions, such as love, anger and whatnot. Whereas (as you have said) Prose better sums up the 'everyday' aspect of life.
